Clutch release mechanism oil leak 1995 K75

I rode the 1995 around a few miles to do a pre-winter oil change and get it on the battery tender when I noticed some oil dripping from the boot at the clutch release mechanism (terminology from Clymers). I palpated the boot with my fingers, checked that the clamp was tight, and it stopped. I checked the transmission oil level and added a couple ounces to level it on my spanner wrench fill line. Should I panic? Let me rephrase: should I be concerned? Is this indicative of a bigger problem? Attached photo of the boot. The oil was coming from the end facing aft.

Thank you.

The boot is the seal. It is clamped at the front and just a tight fit where the lever arm engages the rear of the boot. I would clean it up thoroughly - brake system cleaner would work well - and then check for any tears or other obvious defects.

Thanks, Mr. Glaves. I will certainly do that and glad to hear it is not anything more serious.

inspection update

I inspected the little rubber clutch boot and it is degraded and off center. The rubber isn't very pliable and needs replacing. Hope it is not too difficult a job. Notice online the little bugger is almost $50!

Replacement is straightforward. Disconnect the cable and swivel the arm back and out of the boot. Loosen the clamp and remove the old boot. Attach and clamp the new boot to the transmission. Carefully line up the rear of the boot and the lever. It seems awkward because the angle is wrong until the lever swings into its normal position. Reattach the cable.
