    Reverse gear?

My pre/5 lore isn't what it might be. Did BMW ever build a transmission with reverse gear? Seems to me they did....

Seems to me that the WWII sidecar models had both a reverse gear and a driven wheel on the sidecar.

Looks like it's only the WWII R75 with the sidecar (1941-1944). Had both a "road" and "off-road" gearbox, both with a reverse gear.

Sort of, in addition to the WW2 era stuff mentioned earlier. The K1200LT (1996-2009) had a reverse assist that utilized the starter motor to back the bike out of parking situations. Not sure how that system would stand up to backing a bike with sidecar attached.

    Hmm m mm m . ..

    edit -

Wonder if the above was fitted with an R71 gearbox?

Will the R71 gear box even mate to R75/5 and later airhead engine? Doesn't look like it.
