    BRP/Skyline Drive ride

I have ridin the Blue Ridge Parkway many times but never in its entirety! Two weeks from now I am taking 4 days and starting in Cherokee, NC and riding the BRP/Skyline Drive ending in Front Royal, VA and then back home...was looking for any advice, lodging recommendations, suggestions etc., for this ride? Any info is appreciated!

    Thanks
    Chris

Two suggestions for you: 1) a place to stay in VA is the Hotel Floyd. Very nice place, and just off the BRP. URL here: http://hotelfloyd.com, and 2) Skyline Drive is in the Shenandoah National Park. If you're over 62, get a Senior Pass (good forever) to the National Park System.

In terms of actual riding, be aware that some of the higher elevations might be foggy this time of year, and that speed enforcement is more robust when the BRP goes near Roanoke, VA. The BRP is used by locals there as a commuter route.

    Other than that, have fun!

Not sure about this, but I think near Front Royal there is a BRP Ranger Station where you will be stopped & charged a fine for continuing the rest of the pkwy, which isn't far. I am sure I had to pay a fine, but not sure where or why...was probably lost .

I don't think it's a fine, but actually the fee for the Shenandoah National Park Entry. Here's the URL for the fee: http://www.visitskylinedrive.org/Pla...isit/Fees.aspx

Here's a URL with more general information: https://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvis...line-drive.htm

I always like to stay at Willville near Meadows of Dan.

Yes, you are correct I didn't use the right word. It is a fee. The fine I received was for something else .

Chris, are you riding solo? Tent or credit card camping?
