    Question about BMW Saddlebag Mounts

My R1150R came with a GIVI rear rack, but no case. I'm thinking about removing it since I have no use for it. What I'm wondering is whether I need to fit a grab bar or something else to join the right and left saddlebag mounts together in place of the rack, for the sake of structural rigidity?

Here's a couple pics of how it's currently set up:

    Any thoughts?

Took a BMW aluminum rack off my Ď04 R1150R (it was too small to be of any use), and havenít noticed any problems with the saddle bag mounts. They are there for use as passenger grab bars, so thereís no need for any reinforcement, IMO.

Far be it from me to not pay my respect to a time-honored tradition:

And look, the color even matches!
