    09 K1300GT Rad Fan

How reliable is the radiator fan?
I have 18900 miles on a K13GT and my dealer will be pulling the radiator out to clean it.
Very easy to replace it preventatively if it has a habit of failing. I did see the fan is $500 but better than being stranded.

I have never heard of one failing. That doesn't mean it can't happen, but I think it would be an exceedingly rare occurrence.

Thanks. Looks like you have some history with these bikes and never a problem.

I have a 2008 K1200GT (same design as the K13) and it's not the fan that fails but the actual radiator itself after years of corrosion. A fender extender for the front fender will help a lot and making sure it gets properly cleaned when they are doing the 18K services on the valve clearances. I had to replace my radiator a few months ago for $900 while it was in for the valve clearance service.

Thanks. I finished the service and I am shocked at how much longer the bike will run without the fan coming on.
I read some where about rinsing the radiator with simply green occassionally. I will try doing that to keep it cleaner until the next big cleaning.
