2015 GTL ? starter won't quit??

I bought a 2015 GTL in early 2016 it now has 9K on it. Today while at a light I did the unthinkable, I killed it. Yes I did it so no problem, the kick stand is up, hit the ignition switch and the starter turns and turns. Here we are in the middle of the road and the starter won't stop and it won't fire up. I throw the switch back and forth, I even turn the power switch off and the starter is still turning and no ignition. I ask my sweetheart to dismount in a less than subtle way, which adds to the mood later. I push it to the side of the road in neutral with a starter that's still running. I put the kick stand down and I put it in first gear and dump the clutch while hitting the power button, relief the starter stops. At this moment I realize what I had just done was to turn the bike back on. How could the starter have been running moments ago when the bike was off? I hit the starter switch now that the screen is back up, it starts like nothing had ever been wrong. What just happened? It just doesn't make sense. Even though it was malfunctioning (starter turning when the bike is turned off), when I turned it back on it must have "re-booted" the computer under the seat. All I know is we're on our way again and home in no time. I think this might have been a computer malfunction, but I really don't know. Note: I would estimate the starter ran for just less than a minute.
Does anyone have any advice about this? Should I take it back to the dealer? Bill

There was been numerous starter sprag clutches and starter relay malfunctions noted in other forums that could be the cause of the starter continuing to spin. If its still on warranty I would take it to the dealer if for nothing else but to record the event.
