    Luggage Rack

1994 R1100RS luggage rack drops 2 inches front to back any prefabricated level luggage racks out there. I can get a piece of aluminum and make something. I use wood to level up milk crates which make a inexpensive top box.

It is very easy to cut spacers from aluminum [my choice] or solid plastic stock using only a hand hack saw...then drill center.

I did this on my 99 RS, [same rack] and it worked out well.

Find a GIVI plate (used for a GIVI top box) for your bike. That plate would give you a level area above the tail. This can be purchased separately without a top box.

If you use just the 'plate'?...you still need to level the 'uprights' . If you buy the whole assembly ? then yes it mounts level.

IMO leveling the uprights & using just the plate...makes a cleaner setup . Then you have the option of 'strapping' on or 'snapping' on...the Givi trunk.

The Givi E183 rack rated a 6 kilogram carrying capacity are they that week or overly cautious?
What is the original BMW one supposed to carry?

Not sure what the OEM rack is rated at but most are around 25# which is 11+kilo...

The full rack & plate assembly from Givi seems fairly stout IMO. When I used that combo on my 1150 Roadster it held my Givi52 trunk, loaded , with no problem....so?

LOL...there were times when loaded meant a case of beer plus...
