Looks like you guys are having a nice trip , great to see & thanks for sharing. And hope you continue to enjoy our country !!

This looks like a really great trip. I'm from Belgium and planning to come to the US next year (will do also Canada).
Do you have the tracks on GPX? It would be great to use them as a base?

Though shalt not underestimate the distances :gerg
How long are you planing to ride? We did the southern route to CA , but you also want to go to Canada !If you start/end on the East cost, and look at all the good stuff you can ride 15-20k Miles (30.000km) . I have no GPS tracks, but can give you the approx. route in private message. Swing by if you are in Baltimore ! :beer

I know it will be a challenge, the distance but you only drive once. If you could provide some details on the route, that would be great. The more information the better.
 
Yesterday my clutch slave cylinder had died in Death Valley, still, we rode the bikes to Lake Isabelle. A BMW dealer was 60 miles away, but had a bad reputation. I decided to have my bike towed to Ben's Motorcycle Works in Freedom, CA . Larry came with a rented trailer for the 350mile tow. Roland rode with Larry and I took Roland's bike.<br /><br />Die Hydraulik meiner Kupplung verabschiedete sich gestern in Death Valley. Trotzdem fuhren wir noch bis zum Isabelle See um dort zu naechtigen. Hundert Kilometer weiter gab es zwar einen BMW Haendler, leider mit einem sehr schlechten Ruf. Ich entschied mich das Moped abschleppen zu lassen, ins 550km entfernte Freedom , CA , zu Ben's. It stank for miles. 100.000 cattle on a feeding lot, standing in piles of ****. <br />Entlang der Interstate 5 ist die Harrisfarm. Dort werden 100.000 Rinder schlachtreif gemaestet. Views were great and traffic started to get denser. At Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd we left the coast riding up into the hills.<br />Eine tolle Kuestenlandschaft, dachten sich auch viele andere, und der Verkehr nahm zu. Bought oil,oil filter, a pan & towels and went to work.<br />Heute war der Parkplatzmechaniker am machen. Hier kauft man im Autoshop das Oel, Filter und Wanne, und schon geht's auf dem Parkplatz zur Sache. Die Wanne voll Altoel kann dann auch im Autoshop wieder abgegeben werden. It was President's Day and tons of tourists headed to Yosemite Park.<br />There was a 5 mile backup before the park entrance ! To hell with that, we passed them all . By the time we reached the park entrance we had 10 bikes following us, and our good example. <br /><br />Der Verkehr nahm zu als wir uns Yosemite naeherten. Heute war ein Feiertag (President's Day) und Touristenschwaerme zogen Richtung Yosemite.<br />Vor dem Parkeingang war 8km Stau. I had made a reservation for that early in the morning since it was President's Day. In this neck of the woods, finding a room may easily add another 100 miles of night riding. <br />Wir hatten noch ein gutes Stueck zu fahren und bis wir zu unserem Motel kamen war es schon dunkel. Dieses hatte ich frueh morgens reserviert weil es an Feiertagen sehr schwierig sein kann ein Zimmer zu bekommen. Now it wasn't the best Mexican food, but it was decent.<br /><br />Von Sonora aus fuhren wir noerdlich zur Parrots Ferry Rd wo wir beim Mexikaner zu Mittag assen. Das Essen war ordentlich. Note how low the water level is !<br /><br />Erfrischt fuhren wir weiter Richtung Norden auf der Parrots Ferry Rd und ueberquerten die Snake Gulch, welche zum Melones See gehoert. We left Ely early in the morning and well fed. Fantastic landscapes and very straight roads lend a great sense of the huge distances. After unloading we continued on to the close-by Bryce Canyon for a marvelous sunset.<br />Aufgrund einer Streckensperrung gab es dann noch etwas Umweg bis ins Motel nach Panguitch. Dave has been traveling 40.000miles on this trusty steed. In his teens he wanted to join the merchant marines, and he was able to secure forged papers for that purpose from some shady Italian. He managed to get a hire too, and then, on the day the ship was to leave to South America, the Cuban missile crisis kicked in and many ships were grounded for some time. So poor Dave's ship career never happened. <br />.....das hier ist die Boss Hoss vom Dave. Dave ist Rentner und fuhr so 70.000km auf das Teil. Als Teenager wollte Dave mal zur Seefahrt. Da hat er sich von einem Mafiosi Papiere besorgt welche ihn als ausgebildeten Seemann auswiesen. Tatsaechlich wurde er dann auch angeheuert !
