Description:
The 2017 season kicks off with our anual early Spring campout at Wilgus State Park.. Bring a sweater and a hat. The campground is right in the middle of the best twisty mountain roads, about 5 miles from the base of Mt Ascutney. There is a a mix of lean-tos, Connecticut River-facing camp sites, and a few cabins (by lottery) Firewood is available on site, and there is a store and butcher shop nearby. Hot coffee every morning but you MUST bring your own cup. There is a communal fire area, and each site has fire pit with a grill over it. It is one of the better facilities in the Vermont Park System for campfire chefs! We have been doing this event for years now and it is always a mix of weather and always fun. Invite your friends, bring a guitar or harmonica or whatever you have and sing along with us around the fire. This is the perfect time to be in Vermont. There is often still snow on the mountains, but the weather is getting warmer. You can hike the Long Trail, ride to an art gallery, or enjoy some great off road riding. The best roads in Vermont aren't paved. Year after year this is one of the best attended campouts. All bikes and riders will find something to enjoy. Please no loud pipes. While this is spring camping, typically the weather during the day is quite warm. Typical overnight temps get close to, but rarely below freezing, but do be prepared. $25 per person.

Depending on where in PA, you could go thru the Poconos, up thru western mass, Stockbridge, and then north thru central Vermont.

there are so many good day rides from say.. Stroudsburg to Wilgus

This might be a good starting point to build your route

Route 5 in Vermont goes along the Connecticut river, and thats where the campsite is. so anything that connects to it is probably good. If you slab it at the end, 91 is even ok for a superhighway, but this route I sent avoids all highways and goes thu the Catskills.

Weekend

Thanks YB great weekend camping trip.
Hit a TS in Berlin, NY rode out of it on the Taconic, about 30 miles of rain. It would not be a camping trip if it did not rain at least once. =Perfect.

Nice to have the feedback on your FN experience :thumb
Quite a bit of work goes on behind the scenes to get an event going. All too often the attendees of an event don't provide comments about the great time they had. For the most part, the better the feedback, the better the organizers feel about their effort.

I had a great time. Lots of new faces and over 100 campers (and a few in a hotel...names witheld to protect the guilty)
The weather was near 80 degrees, We ate, we drank, we sang, we rode... it was a heck of a great weekend. The season has officially begun!
