    Smile Phone Calls

So last week, I'm getting phone calls from Bethlehem, Nazareth and Jerusalem from my daughter (on a 15-day "Walking In The Footsteps of Jesus" tour sponsored by her seminary studies), and I figure - WOW! Pretty hard to compete with that.

Then I'm jolted out of bed with the phone ringing at 0300 this morning, my Staff Sgt. son on the other end, stating "Hey Dad. Guess where I'm standing? I've got my right foot just inside 'Harry' in Stalag Luft III, Poland." 'Harry' is one of the 3 tunnels ('Tom, Dick & Harry') burrowed by allied POW's at this camp that was the historical inspiration for the movie "THE GREAT ESCAPE."

When I encouraged these kids to get out and "see the world," who knew?!

Pretty neat indeed! My two kids, both under 30, have already traveled the world more than I have in my 62 years.
Ah, the benefits of having a well-paying job, still single, and not having family responsibilities just yet.

Cool! (I'm a retired Army Chaplain so I can relate to both of those stories.) I know that you are proud of your kids.

Same here. Both with successful careers and an appreciation of history. Proud.

The goal of successful parenting is to prepare an even better generation of citizens than you were at that age.

    They do me proud.

    Thank you for your service!

    Kevin,
Thanks for sharing that information. Having kids who keep you in the loop is great!

I went to my great grandson's first birthday party Sunday. His big sister and lots of little cousins and friends caused wonderful chaos!

That is nothing short of awesome, you obviously raised your kids up right, and for that I congratulate you.

They were good kids growing up. They get a lot of the credit too.
