For the Airheads with the large 28AH battery - I still swear by the Panasonic AGM battery. I run these in my two Airheads for 6 years and then replace them just for preventive measure. They still show 12.8 volts at rest after six years.

Panasonic LC-X1228P 12V 28Ah VRLA Battery with Nut and Bolt Terminal

Search for it on Amazon or wherever, just don't pick the "replacement Panasonic" that are half the cost. Those are junk.

Check out the MotoBatt offering from Tom Cutter's Rubber Chicken Racing Garage. These are what Tom runs in his Airhead and what he recommends as the best current battery offered for Airheads. Price is competitive for quality batteries.

Although my bike is a /6, I took the old battery up to Pep Boys and picked out an AGM battery that was close in size and still fits the box perfectly top to bottom and size to side. It cost $60 and has been in the bike for 3 -4 seasons now. I think it was intended for a lawn tractor.

Thanks to all for suggestions my battery charged up seems to be holding charge. Source suggested by Jagarra also has lots of solar panels controllers and batteries for solar charging systems

I bought the 'BigCrank' from BatteryMart for my R100 and am happy with it.
