Accessory Plug 2016 GTL

Have owned a 2000 RT and 2009 LT Both with accessory plugs on the left, never had a problem plugging in heated clothes. About 200 miles on my 2016 GTL both accessory plugs on the right and dealer said don't plug in heated clothes you need to install another plug direct from battery is best and on the left so the cord does not drape over tank or lap....anyone else experience this?

First I heard of cord concerns, wasn't I big deal for me, but.....

The plugs have a specific load rating and if exceeded they computer will shut them down. Happened on my GT when running my jacket and gloves at the same time.

I'd guess some brands of jackets alone could also exceed the load threshold.

I had to run a direct connect to the battery, which is better in some ways as it gives me a place to connect a charger over the winter.

I wired 'my' heat (mounted in the fairing) to my PDM60, and have a adapter from the SAE ended wire I use for the battery tender when Christine wants to ride, or I am using the heated dogseat for Tobi.
