Sudden loss of power + choking/cough noise and jerking 2016 GSA

Riding at steady low speed on the street (~20mph), experienced sudden loss of power with changed exhaust sound (choking/coughing) and rhythmic thumping. Physically felt like a flat tire - the sense of driving through mud with the thumping - but it isn't. Orange alert light and check engine icon came on.

Rebooted (ignition button off/on) and ran fine for a mile between there and the gym, where I am now. No alert/engine light. Operating temp and oil level fine. 4500 miles on the odometer.

Loss of spark in one cylinder? Loose plug wire, bad plug? Glop of oil/water in fuel? Any ideas/similar experiences?
