F800GS Range and Riding Buddies

My Dad and brother both ride those bikes with ~500 mile range. I am wondering if anyone has any experience riding the F800GS with someone that rides a R1200GS. Do you have to carry additional fuel?

It might be mostly mental but as soon as those bars start disappearing I start thinking about the distance to the next fuel stop. Is it worth the weight to add additional fuel storage?

Not really sure of your question but on my F800GS, I'm looking for gas at around 160 miles. Low fuel light at around 180.

Not sure I understand your comment about the fuel range of the F800GS. Are you saying your family members can go 500 miles on a single tank of fuel? My wife rides a 2014 F800GS and gets 50-55 MPG on average and has a 4.2 gallon tank. That is 230 miles on a good day. Even the F800GS Adventure can go only 350 miles.

Get a Camel Tank for your F800GS for an additional 7L of fuel. I'd never want to ride without the extra range mine gives me now. I can get between 450 and 500 kms (275 - 300 miles) on a single fill up.

I've put a camel on my 700 gs and get about230 miles if running at a true 75 mph

with my camel tank the low fuel light comes on at 240-250 miles. From previous experiments prior to the tank I estimate I will get 300 and change before rolling to a stop.

Very similar to my experiences. I always make sure to refuel before going below half a gallon though, as I'm told that the gasoline acts as a coolant for the fuel pump, and you could cause damage to the pump by running it dry. That may or may not be true, but I've rarely road with anyone who's butt didn't run out of patience after 200 miles or so, unless they are a true iron butt rider....
I'd like to know what type of bikes are out there that afford 500 miles of range, unless they are specially modified....so from my perspective I've got more than enough gas now to ride with the big boys....
