    Battery pigtail attachment

My brother just purchased a 2014 C650GT. Is battery located such that a pigtail for charging can easily be attached?

A bad day on the C650 GT scooter is better than the best day at work

Battery is very easily accessed through upper right forward panel,
I installed a fused Powerlet plug just above the right glove box
Used for charging and heated vest

    Battery Charging

    Hello,
As I read the Owners manual, you must use appropriate battery charger through onboard outlet. If you charge directly to the battery, you must disconnect the battery from the bike. Look at the information copied below and straighten out my thinking.

    Charging connected battery
Charging the connected battery directly at the battery terminals can damage the motorcycle electronics.

To charge the battery via the battery terminals, disconnect the battery first.

If the multifunction display and indicator lamps fail to light up when you switch on the ignition, the battery is completely discharged (battery voltage be- low 9 V). Attempts to recharge a completely discharged battery through the onboard power socket can damage the motorcycle's electronic systems.

Always charge a completely drained battery directly at the terminals of the disconnected battery.

Only charge connected battery via additional onboard socket. The additional onboard socket is only available as OA. Comply with operating instructions of charger.

Wifes scooter has had charger attached in the way I described above for almost 3 years, with no adverse effects
In fact bike came from dealer with a set of pigtails attach d directly to battery.
This is the fourth bmw I have wired to bypass the canbus system
By wiring a Powerlet plug direct to battery you are able to run a tire compressor and heated gear which you might or might not be able through canbus
FYI we use optimate 4 chargers exclusively
