    K100LT vs K100RT Fairings

I have a 91 K100LT and the main upper fairing bracket where the windshield attaches appears to be cracked causing the windshield to vibrate on the right hand side near the top.

Have found a used RT fairing and was wondering if it would fit my LT. I checked the MAX BMW fiche and they look the same with the exception of the airvents.

Having a body person try to fix the old fairing will probably be pretty expensive and I am planning on repainting the entire bike.

The K100LT fairing starts out at the factory as a K100RT fairing. The holes for the side vents are then put into it. There is a part number molded on the inside of the fairing that supports this assumption of mine. I bought a new K100LT upper fairing, when it arrived the number molded on the inside of the fairing was that of a K100RT fairing. Your could probably cut the holes for the vent in the RT fairing if you really want them.

The cheapest thing on a BMW is the nut that connects the handlebars to the seat.

Stopped by the local BMW dealer and he looked up both parts and they had the same part number. Looks like it will fit.

    Don,
You have a parts catalog online too:
    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do
Enter the last 7 digits of your VIN and you will see all the parts
for YOUR bike. It even tells you it's birthdate.
