Rear shock replacement for my 85 R80 monolever

Hello - What make/brand does the collective recommend I replace my rear shock with - The bike is stock, ridden on the street, mostly 1-up, occasional 2-up - Thanks

I don't know what shock brand you should use BUT I know who you should ask: Ted Porter's Beemershop. Just had a REAL good purchasing experience with them in the last week.

I put on Ohlins on my 86 R80 a few years back when Ohlins had a sale. I installed a set of progressive fork springs at the same time. Between the two it made a remarkable difference from the tired OEM equipment.

Replacing the Boge pogo stick that came on my 85 R80RT with a Works Performance Street Tracker and putting RaceTech Gold Valve cartridge emulators into the forks were the two best things I ever did to my bike.

When I send my Works shock in for service (not often enough), I put the original and very-low mile Boge back in place and the thing scares the pants off me in sweeping corners that also have some bumps.

I have same situation as original poster jimbc. I have the same bike and riding style and I don't need a high tech racing suspension system. Just something decent.

I needed a cost effective solution, and have had good luck and noticeable improvement with Hagon units.
