Oil Level Indicator Leak

2007 R1200GSA My indicator is leaking and I ordered a replacement. The replacement has a spring ring with a circular cross section as opposed to the existing snap ring which has a rectangular section. Anyone know if this is a design improvement or should I re-use the existing snap ring? The "old" snap ring is no longer available from BMW.

Cheers

Might want to look at official BMW service procedures to determine if special tools are required to install this item.

Thanks Kent, I used a socket just slightly smaller than the OD of the seal and it worked a treat. I would love to see what the official service manual says about how to remove the sight glass in the first place. Are they accessible anywhere? I'm sure it probably just says "remove the sight glass".
