Just purchased a sweet '76 R90/6 located in the Atlanta area and need to ship it to the Philadelphia area. Can anyone recommend a reasonably-priced, reliable carrier? Many thanks.

Whom ever you choose...make sure they deliver it & place it on the ground when it arrives..........

If they require you to stand on the snow/ice covered lift-gate & hold it while the driver lowers the gate ?......I'd pass.

Just offering first hand experience, and a suggestion.

I used uship.com to find RPM Unlimited. Rocky and his crew did a great job. $250 from Atlanta to Lakeland, Fl. Type uship in the search box on this page and you will get other helpful posts.

I also appreciate the links and suggestions for motorcycle shipment. This will be a first time experience for me. In about 6 months I'll be moving from Columbus, Ohio to the piedmont region of North Carolina. Currently there are 13 bikes in the garage, but this number may be reduced by the time the move occurs. [I also have to get busy and put the cylinders and back-end on my /5 before the move!] The current collection of bikes (mostly BMWs) range in age from 17 years to over 50 years. Lots of boxes of parts also!!

Since I'll be moving multiple bikes I will solicit quotes - I'd like to have the pickup point be my current home and the drop-off be the new home, but I know some shippers want a dealership listed as the drop-off location. Fortunately there is a BMW motorcycle dealer a few miles away from the new home - I'll try for that location if I can't get a drop-off at the new home location. [Then, I'll either need a trailer or get the /5 running!!]

Following is a list of links to various bike shippers that I've identified based on earlier comments -

Haulbikes delivered straight to my house, but since they come in really long double-decker enclosed trailers, there needs to be enough room in front of your house for the drop off, and overhead wires need to be addressed if there any low hanging ones.

Here's a few pics of my delivery day almost 10 years ago:

Back in November I researched this also as I had purchased a Beemer in Dallas and needed it shipped to Mobile. Cheapest legitimate hauler I found was $600 +. When I finally settled on a carrier, they wanted at least 30 days to deliver! Long story short, I ended up renting a pickup from Enterprise and hauling it back myself. Managed to save enough money to keep a promise to significant other and bring back a couch from Ikea also. Airhead cylinder imprint is on back of couch, but slip cover hides that!

Something else to consider...the tag cloud. Gary had a Best of Forum a while back:

http://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.php?75890-Do-you-ever-use-the-quot-Tag-Cloud-quot

I notice there are some tags for this thread...have been added by the various members. :thumb So, then click on the "View Tag Cloud" at the bottom and type in shipping, transport, etc., and find other threads that have also used that particular tag. It can be helpful.
That would be me :gerg Kurt. The Best of Forum Tag Cloud works real well- and any Member can add a tag. So if you have a thread that has helpful info- give it a try. And give the Tag Cloud a try as well.

Thanks, again, all for the helpful suggestions. I finally settled on Nowe Transportation & Logistics (603.275.3157; email: tbonemjn@gmail.com). Mike Nowe did a great job: quick, professional, zero issues, fast and very well-priced. I will surely use him again.
