    Odyssey Battery in 1974 R90/6

I am thinking about putting one of these in my 1974 R90/6 come spring. I have one in my 1999 R1100GS and am pleased with it. Curious if anybody out there has put one in an airhead and if they have had any problems. Thanks in advance.

A PC680 in my 2000 R1100RT still seemed ok after 9 years but I just replaced it in principle.

My R90/6 has a garden tractor battery but that requires a minor stretch job on the battery holder. But at least I can get a battery anywhere for $25.

    Odyssey battery for Airhead.

    I have 2 PC680s that have been trouble free. A '92 R100 GSPD has had one for going on 6 years, & a '76 R90/6 for 5 years.
After being unable to ride for a 2 1/2 month stretch this year, both bikes fired right up. The batteries have never been on a trickle charger.
Battery technology improves over the years, but from my experience the Odyssey (Enersys) battery will be my choice to replace the batteries in all my vehicles.

I have them in late model airheads. They lay on their side with the top facing front. You might have to fabricate "L" brackets for your connection to the terminals. I bought a copper water fitting at Lowes. Hacksawed it in half lengthwise tapped the pieces flat and drilled holes in them for the bolts.

    Cheers,
I also have one in my oilhead. I use a PC680 in my R80G/S too. As soon as the Panasonic dies in my RS an Odyssey is going in it too. They work very well. The only issue to be aware of is the stock airhead charging system does not charge Odyssey batteries in an optimal fashion. I get around this by using an Odyssey approved charger frequently which tops it up properly. For airheads you should consider an adjustable voltage regulator. Set it to 14.4 to 14.7 volts for the Odyssey AGM. There is a lot of good literature on their site explaining how to get the best out of an Odyssey AGM. And the best includes great reserve capacity, cranking amps and a long service life.

Best price I have found consistently is here: http://sepbatteries.com/pc680-odyssey-battery

Free shipping and mine came with the L bracket adapters in the box.
