    Fitness /skill

    I suppose it's an accurate title ?

About a year ago, maybe 18 months,.. I spotted a neighbor ? going by the house on a Unicycle . He didn't [fall] but he a few quick [get-offs] while he was in my line of sight.
He was wobbly , squirmy & slow, looked absolutely scared stiff.

Well he stuck with it, I see him damn near everyday. He went by this morning.........straight as an arrow, and fast [regular road bike speed] , riding like a confident old hand at it.

This guy is not young...his hair is as white as mine . Somewhere along his learning he gained enough confidence to turn and wave I really admire that guy.

Don't know why I thought I should share this I just thought I would.

I am glad you did, that's what I needed to hear today to get off my ass and go do my workout. Thank you!

Because many people won't try to learn a new skill once they hit a certain age. I've seen some skiers in my age bracket take up snowboarding. They have my respect.

Lots of good stuff in that series.

Never thought of that. Makes perfect sense once you consider the interaction of the vertical inertia on the sprocket bearings and the caliper vertex...

I wish I could manage that, my days of climbing mountains and leaping tall buildings has turned into, never do today what you can put off until tomorrow.

Small steps, keep putting your socks on while standing on one leg. Practicing balance helps achieve balance.

OM had lots of time to think about these things last winter. His RV is probably still balancing a few feet of snow.........

Well perhaps he should try putting on a pair of compression stockings standing on one foot and then get back to us.

    Back in the day...
our dad gathered his three teenage sons (I was almost a teen) around the back of his big ass 67 Buick. He had seen us wheely-ing our stingray clones and the associated street rash that was part of the fun.
Challenged us that he had something we couldn't ride on one wheel without some practice. Opened the trunk to present us with a beat up unicycle and two crutch like poles...Game on!
It took a lot of tries, but we all got it down. I then bought a 7' seat height uni when I was 18 and got OK on it as falling off was way worse an event it had a long chainline that was a fair hazard! Then I got into cars and gave it to my older brother who still has it.

Nowdays, when I see one at some event, I walk up to owner, ask all about it and ask if I can try it. Most times I get the handoff and after one goofy attempt to make them laugh, I wheel all about...priceless as I hand it back and say it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be
