rear tire recomondations

New to the sidecar bunch I will be needing a replacement rear drive tire on my rig. I have a 2007 1200 RT with a Hannagin sidecar. Any motorcycle tires stand out with good service and any car tires available to work on the fitment of the stock rim thanks

I have a 2004 R1150RT with a Champion Escort and am running a 175/55-17 Achilles car tire. So far I have approximately 3500 miles with no sign of any wear at all. It just barley fits, clearing the swingarm by maybe 1/8" Cost about $62 delivered. Handles well and even seems to have improved braking. Available on ebay or at Tire-easy.com. This is the only tire in the states that I can find in the states.

For a MC tire your best bet may be the Metzeler ME880 Belted (not radial). I could not find a 17" car tire narrow enough to fit the rear on my rig sosprang for a car wheel conversion from Claude at Freedom Sidecars. 155/80-15 Goodrich tires run me about $75 and go 12-14k miles. But after looking at the Achilles mentioned above I'd be tempted to try that on the OEM rim, possibly with a wheel spacer if needed.

Best,

DG

DG, I doubt that you will need the spacer. If you do, let me know, I have several and could be talked into selling 1 or 2 at a decent price. When you getthe tire and when it is mounted, it looks like it will not fit. Surprisingly, it does with a small amount of clearance.
