    Oklahoma 144

Anyone riding in southeastern Oklahoma looking for a road with hills and plenty of twists and turns should give OK 144 a try. Going west to east, it runs from where it branches off of US 271 20 miles north of Antlers to where it intersects US 259 at Octavia 40 miles later. Not much traffic other than the occasional logging truck. The road surface is in fair condition -- stay alert for potholes and loose asphalt. I've ridden it several times this year and enjoyed every ride.

Yes that would be a nice ride. I'm not a 100% sure I've rode Hiway 144. But I've ridden all up and down 259 from Broken bow to Poteau. and on over to Talihena. Kiamichi Mtns over to Winding Stair Mountain. Good motorcycle riding country. If you add the Ouachita Mtns along the western border in Arkansas, it really makes for some good riding. Next time I get over that way I'll definately add 144 to the list. Thnks for bringing it to our attention. Barry
