They seem to have changed the name of the 3M product I have used from Scotchcal to-

I use it to protect the rocker panels/door entries on vehicles and a few other things. Goes on like any vinyl product and lasts well.

Best bet would be a visit to a local 3M Clear Bra installer for ideas and and estimate. There are clear film kits for newer bikes (I put on on my R12RT), but I am not aware of any airhead kits and the compound curves of that tank would be a *witch* to try to do a good install yourself with a plain sheet of the material.
