    Charging battery - 2015 R1200GS

I thought I would avoid buying the expensive BMW charger and instead hook up an SAE connector to the battery directly, with the ring terminals. However, looking at my owner's manual, it states that one must not charge the battery directly unless the battery is disconnected from the bike, or else delicate electronics may be damaged.

Thoughts, anyone? I have the older style Deltran Battery Tender with the BMW logo on it. Has anyone hooked up an SAE connector direct to the battery and charged it while it is still connected to the bike?

    thanks,

Thanks. I see I was in that thread...I did a search and didn't find it.

I have bought a pigtail with 7.5 amp fuse from TwistedThrottle. Maybe I'll wait until after the first service to put that on. I won't worry about charging until winter.

Oh, and I did see that positive post on my bike: nice feature.
