2015 Isle of Man TT starts Sat.

Michael Dunlop is sticking with BMW

Valentino Rossi was dominating MotoGP in 2002-03 and was riding a Honda. The trouble was, Honda was a superior bike then, and the Honda's were dominating. He wanted to prove to himself and to the world that it wasn't just the bike that was winning the races. To truly be a champion, he had to win on something else. Well he did just that. He hopped on a Yamaha which wasn't winning in 2003, and like he did when riding his Honda he won races, and demonstrated to the world that HE was the best...

In 2014, Michael Dunlop dominated Isle of Man on a BMW S1000RR. Why then would he make the decision to switch to Yamaha? He joined the 131MPH club for goodness sake! Well I reckon it might have been for the same reasons, or maybe it was money. In any event, he has made the decision to stick with BMW this year because he just can't get the Yamaha tweaked enough to win. Michael will be riding the BMW once again.

Here's to BMW dominating Isle of Man again this year! :beer

Don't worry if you have trouble understanding what Guy Martin is saying, most folks do! He seems to be a larger than life character--we were sitting in a coffee shop last year in Douglas when he cycled by on a cruiser type bicycle without a helmet---seemingly oblivious to all the stares!

To clarify, he isn't "sticking with BMW" - he's walking out on his contract with Yamaha. Seeing as the bike is brand new, did he not realize that there'd be development required? Were I in their shoes, he'd be racing a Yamaha or sitting out the race, his choice.

And finally, to your point, Michael Dunlop isn't Valentino Rossi.

HAHA...

There is scuttlebutt that he is going to be one of the new hosts of Top Gear. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebritynews/11580679/BBC-has-chosen-dream-team-of-Top-Gear-presenters-to-replace-Jeremy-Clarkson.html

If they have him, will they need The Stig?

Oh, and BTW, here is Guy hitting the TT IOM on a BMW:

Thanks for the clarification...

Nobody is Rossi. :)

I always thought this was a pretty cool video of an "every day" person on an R1150GS riding a portion of the course.

Just watching the tach is enough to indicate this is not an "every day" rider.

Just a hunch but I don't think this is this rider's first time there. :thumb

-Boy that's true... Michael is a way better competitor than Valentino.
-glad to see guy Martin going with a winning bike this year.
-the Isle of Man TT is the greatest race of all time. I'm pretty sure "Take on Me" by "Ah-ha" in the 1980's was a pop video tribute to the race, if true, it would stand as positive proof that the race in question stands alone in the annals of racing legend.

That comment puts into question the credibility of everything you've ever said, or ever will say. Anyone who gives that band, or that song, any attention should expect to be mocked and/or derided until they either withdraw the comment or provide anyone who has been exposed to the comment a compilation of AC/DC...preferably both. :laugh

Brew ha ha.... Teenagers of the 80's unite. :violin. One day we'll be in our 40's and rule the world. (Hey, I could have made a tears for fears reference... And then where would be; hopelessly lost in 80's Pop trivia, hijack complete.) Back to your regularly scheduled TT thread.

Pretty funny to see a guy on a lowly GS picking off all those sportbikes.
