    '93 K1100RS Fork Seal replacement?

    Greetings all,

I recently acquired a mostly pristine low mileage (40k) RS, and am having fun getting it sorted. After my first 200 mile shake down, it's become obvious I need new fork seals on both sides. I have a Clymber manual, which goes through in detail about a full rebuild procedure, which I don't believe is necessary, and would be difficult for me to do with my spartan tool box. Can someone steer me towards a tutorial or guide on replacing the just seals and dust caps? Or do I have to do the entire rebuild?

I'm sorry if this already exists somewhere here on the forum. I searched but did not find...

    Thanks in advance!

It has been a long while since I had my '93 1100RS. But, I would guess that all you need do is follow the initial and final instructions of the rebuild. That would be to drain the oil, remove parts (carefully). Then re-fill oil and install new seals and dustcaps. Usually, removing the dust caps and seals will have to be the first thing to do, and reinstalling new ones will be the last. So, you simply skip the steps in between. Probably someone like Don E or Paul G or Lee will come along and give you better guidance, but I would be surprised if this would not be workable.....

As a start, there is some good info in this thread. Since RS and LT fork seal work is the same. HTH.

I appreciate the help, but that is a Tele-lever. Much different than the traditional pre-Tele fork.
