1983 R100RS Rebuild Project Journal

Hello Brook,

I'm just starting a rebuild of a 1983 R100RS.
the bike has 29k origial miles but has been stored for 26 years. I know the bike was garaged for an issue but don't know what the issue was. Sadly the owner has passed away.
Just a few questions to start.
Do you know the size in milimeters for the Brembo calipers? I seem to see different sizes out there for rebuild kits.
The carborators are Bings. Is there a specific type, size etc I should research for? Where can I find the rebuild kits for them.
How did you get yours so clean? They look great!
Thanks in advance.
Brian

Brian,

Go over to my site, brook.reams.me. You will find a document that includes all the documents about how I rebuilt the 1983 R100RS.
1983 BMW R100RS To RT Build: Project Index

In the index is a document showing how I rebuilt the Brembo calipers including the parts. There is also a document about rebuilding the carburetors identifying what and where I got the rebuild kit from, Euro MotoElectrics.

I also have a document that covers the techniques I use to refinish parts including the carburetors which is in the list of documents about how I rebuilt a 1973 R75/5.
51 BMW 1973 R75/5 Refinishing Techniques

I hope this helps
