Advice on how to remove timing plate on K100

According to my Clymer manual, the timing plate can be slid off once the set screws and washers securing it to the crankshaft are removed. All good, the timing plate is loose but there's what looks like a retention ring with 3 indents that prevent removal (refer to pic). Please help

After closer scrutiny it is a slip fit. I wiggled it out and all is good

Those look like the cut ins for the washers. It is probably just seized. Maybe light tapping with rubber mallet will make it go
