The Remus cat-less headers for a 2014 RT

Wethead

New member
So Remus has a straight cat-free header for the 2014 RT. I was thinking about trying them on with the stock can.

The question is: Why bother spending 700+ dollars on it? What will it do for a 2014 RT?

I could not find anything other than opinions, guesses or the sellers version of its own performance test.

Along the way, I have only found reluctance on the part of 'experts' about whether or not these headers will actually improve the performance of the wethead at higher hwy speeds, whether or not it would keep the engine cooler, nor if or not it will effect the gas mileage.

If you happen to come across some objective research information on the efficacy of this mod, please post it.

I don't have a new RT but the common consensus amongst the 1600 gang (with a lot of installs) is if your motivation is lighter weight and more sound it might be worth it but that there's no benefit at all from a performance perspective on a touring bike - and it might actually cost you some mid-range power for an unnoticeable improvement in top end. BMW gets these bikes pretty much right from the factory on performance. Looks, sound - all in the eye of the beholder.

The other thing I'll say is beware of any Remus claims that aren't independently verified. Their charts on the 1600 tried to compare the stock bike running in rain mode with the Remus equipped bike dyno'd in dynamic mode. When compared in the real world dyno results - no usable improvement on the 1600.
