Trans America trail: Tennessee

roborider

God? What god?
Hey guys,

Two buddies and I are hitting the Tennessee portion of the Trans America Trail, planning for about Sept. 15, 2014.

Anyone done it and can tell me anything? It looks like a good portion is asphalt?

Thanks,
Rob

Well, I can now answer my own question!

The Eastern part of the trail is great. Rivers, dirt, gravel, etc. You could ride around in this area some time and just have fun.

The Central portion is scenic, but now mostly paved. But still bucolic and beautiful. A good ride on a street bike.

The Western section is again good. Dirt, clay, back country roads, creeks, etc. Starting at about Fayetteville, TN, it is good again. You can do it on a GS, but the DRZs were much more fun.
