Madrid to Lisbon and back, September , 2014

Hello BMW Riders

Last year we did 8 days in Croatia and managed our own tour. For the most part, it turned out fine, other than the days being longer than anticipated.

This year (2014) in September, we will be renting two BMW F800GT's in Madrid and will be heading west into Portugal. We have a pretty reasonable schedule, as attached:

In case the page does not open, we will go from Madrid to (1) Segovia, to (2) Avila, to (3) Ciudad Rodrigo, to (4) Porto, Portugal, to (5) Obidos, Portugal, to (6) Sintra, Portugal (were we will take a train to Lisbon,) to (7) Merida, Spain to (8) Jarandilla to (8) Toledo and back to Madrid.

For anyone that has taken any portion of this route, it would be great to hear from you on any recommendations you may have.

I just purchased 'Rick Steve's' 2014 book on Spain. It contains a lot of good information. It shows places of reasonable cost accomodation, train costs, sites to see etc. A great planning tool to make the most of your own tour.
