speakin'bout tatts...

What I like'bout havin'an open mind,is that ya get t'meet all kinds of interestin'people. A few years ago, after attendin'the Cycle World show,in Minneapolis,I went to The Whiskey Junction, ( a great bar, always super music, and great people, in spite of the fact I don't drink alcohol) where I spotted THIS guy walkin'towards me. He was wearin'a rather loud shirt, which read " The Scary Guy",and we were standin'face to face,I stared in his eyes'n'said, "you don't scare me". He broke out laughin',and we spent the rest of the night talkin',he's an up front,in yer face kinda guy. Check him out at www.thescaryguy.com :thumb

the scary guy is waaaaay cool. great message. hmmmm, wonder if i am man enough to take the 7 day challenge??? wonder if i am tough enough to succeed at it. thanks for sharing the link nose.

BS jewellry

Bonjour, Denis,

I used to live in Pincourt (Ile Perrot.) Great riding around Deux Montaignes, tatoos or not!

I have pierced ears, and like to wear my Bridgestone earrings and pin. Yes, Bridgestone made motorcycles and I have 3 of them (at least, I tend to lose count.) So does this make me a biker? The jewellry is the original Bridgestone bike design of the keystone of a bridge with BS inside. Even most vintage bikers don't recognize it. Great converstation starter and a lot less painful than tatoos.

I have ridden 9,000 km. so far this year and that makes me a motorcyclist, not any tatoos or jewellry or... Does your wife ride? If not, why not help her learn and buy a small bike for her. Then she will know what a biker is.

I have several hidden tattoos,.....an Iron Butt logo on my butt and a couple of others to do with motorcycling but each has a unique reason behind them, and I consider them as ART not defacing my body.

I've got this Great Blue Heron on my forearm.

http://www.pbase.com/deanzat/image/28445221

My son was reading these fantasy books in which this symbol was the mark of a great swordsman. I liked the image, and decided I would take it as a symbol of marksmanship (Herons are amazing hunters), so I did. Anyone else who can put five .45 rounds into a single hole at 25 yards in less than three seconds is welcome to use this image.

I was well into my forties, and I was just musing on the idea when my wife declared that I was NOT getting a tattoo. Naturally, that sealed the deal and I got it that afternoon. In thirty years, we haven't quite learned how to deal with situations like this. (Several years earlier, she declared that I was not getting a motorcycle, but here I am. I think I think out loud so she'll help me decide!)

She steamed and steamed, and then on the night of her book group, the women all wanted to see my tattoo. So I rolled up my sleeve. They oohed and ahhed (my arm was still shaved at that point). One of her friends scolded her: "This is beautiful. The way you were talking, we thought he got a swastika!"

There are practical reasons not to get tattoos at a young age, but there also are times when one more day of practicality will swallow your soul. Even a boring guy like me believes "everything in moderation - including moderation!" DZ

DZ, is that from a bolted table rest with hand-loaded ammo through a matchgrade pistol, or free hand? I'm impressed, can you duplicate that feat? :brow

Or, is the 'hole' bigger than say 3" diameter? :dunno

Oh it's a big hole, but they're all connected. I can do it about twice a year, and that's with going to the range nearly every weekend.

But it's a stock Glock 30 and whatever ammo's on sale at Cheaper Than Dirt.

I don't have the consistency to count myself an expert, but the tattoo reminds me of my aspiration to shoot well.

A friend of mine left the Immigration service to become an Air Marshall after 9/11, and the drills these guys did were just amazing. Granted, they were mostly close quarters, but IIRC, their goal was two headshots in one second.

I went shooting with him one day, and after an hour he was ankle deep in brass. He fired more rounds in that hour than I shoot in a month. And I tell ya, he could wear the Heron any day! DZ

I'd say you're an 'Expert' unless you throw the rest of the magazine all over the place. :ha :ha

I'm also running away :bolt from this thread "Hijack". :dance

Good shootin' DZ :usa

Hi Holly thanks for the post, Indeed there are several nice rides in the West Island and beyond. my wife was actually just teasing me about the tatoo business although someone mentionned that she might have a secret thing for tatoos (not a bad idea) However that being said I was thinking that this subject would make for good fun discussion on the BMWOA website; and it has. Harley owners have their style and most Beemers have theirs too. I do not think that having or not having a tatoo has anything to do with love of motorcycling.

Enjoy your rides and wear your Bridgetone jewelry proudly.

cheers

Hi

An iron butt tattoo on your...butt? without getting pornographic maybe a close up of that tattoo in a pic. You would win the grand prize in my book!

Cheers

True biker doesn't mean a 1% member or the look

Tats should be a personal decision. Weather you want to have something on your body for the rest of your life or not is a personal choice and should not be a label of who or what you are.

Personally, I have no tats or piercing and not planning on getting any. I plan on leaving this world in the closest resemblance as I came into it. Just a personal choice.

As far as a biker or motorcycle enthusiast you could call me biker.

Biker; what is a true definition of a biker? Is it an outward appearance or a state of mind, an enthusiasm for the enjoyment of the experience? The appearance or the camaraderie?

Personally, my buddies call me a biker due to it doesnÔÇÖt matter what you ride just so that you ride. If youÔÇÖre ever in need of help or assistance I would be there tats or not. This is MY definition of a biker. A motorcyclist to me is the person who would fly by you when youÔÇÖre broke down along the side of the road. I donÔÇÖt say this because I have a HD parked in my garage (IÔÇÖve never owned one and donÔÇÖt plan on it). Seems to me that a lot of people associate bikers with ÔÇ£1%ÔÇØ (outlaw bikers) and no, I donÔÇÖt hang with people like that, they usually have their own support vehicle to assist when they break down.

A good example of my point is when my wife and I were traveling out to the west coast this year we were getting our gear loaded on the bike outside of the motel and there were 3 metric cruisers parked next to me. I said ÔÇ£morning ÔÇ£and I was snubbed by the 3 couples wearing their leather vests, chaps and chains. I guess they didnÔÇÖt like our full riding zuit suits or my long hair. Well sure enough about 45 miles out of town there they were, 1 of them broke down on the side of the road. Having to take a long thought about what happened a little while earlier I turned around and offered my assistance because I am a biker.

This is just my personal opinion right or wrong as it may be. But isnÔÇÖt that the great part that we all can have our own opinion.

MOA Headquarters

I was at the MOA HQ last week and came across three tattoos. I think I am going to start a contest as to identifying who is who from the tats....
