Ignore Thread Feature?

Other forums on which I participate using vBulletin software offer a feature allowing the individual to ignore individually selected threads. They certainly improve my browsing experience when those annoying threads keep coming to the top of the list. Any chance of installing it here?

I've looked around at the settings and don't see an Ignore Thread option...not sure how/when such a thing gets installed. I looked at ADV...I didn't see that as a feature either.

Can you describe your forum browsing approach? I'm not sure what you mean by "coming to the top of the list"?

Typically when a thread has a new addition since the last time you visited, it will be moved to the top of the forum area for easier recognition that something has changed. Of course, you don't have to view the thread if your don't want to. Under Settings > General Settings there is a Thread Display Option section where you can select how the posts within a thread will be displayed - linear, threaded, hybrid with some control over newer posts being first or last. This is probably not what you're referring to, though.

Some people look over the entire main forum page, looking for the icons that indicate something has changed in a particular area. Another way is to click on New Posts in the upper left to get a single page of the newest posts/threads since the last time you visited.

Those are the two basic ways that I know of for viewing the forum.

You can go to your settings and add the member to your ignore list.

I read the original post as wanting to ignore threads...but yes, there is an ignore list for a member.

Me too. I just threw that out in case the ignore member option would help.

For me, if I see threads I don't want to read anymore, I don't open them.

Here is the feature shown on the thread tools drop down on the Two Wheeled Texans forum. Once selected I never see that thread again unless I manually remove it from the list. Kind of the polar opposite of the Subscribe function.

Interesting feature. I've looked over the existing options and don't see this listed...it could be buried somewhere in the settings. It might also have to be set up on initial installation. Note that we're running vBulletin 4.2 where TWT is running 3.8. There could be a difference there, as to not be available in this later version of vBulletin. :dunno

I also notice in your screen capture that under Thread Tools also appears Moderation Tools. In our layout of vBulletin, the Thread Tools and Administration Tools are under separate drop down boxes.
