fix for lazy fuel pump retaining bracket & 'normal' in tank fuel question 1994 k75S

replacing the fuel pump in my 94S the rubber vibration damp and white plastic mount bracket seem very tired.

i am using the pump from here: http://www.highflowfuel.com/ag-80794.80668.87398.83568-1994-bmw-k75s-efi.html which i chose over the napa pump option hoping it would be easier than making that grommet out of fuel line and chaining the terminals (novice mechanic here but trying to do this repair myself)

the pump just slides through the rubber retainer as currently set up, and i'm not sure how secure the white clamp is supposed to be, but mine doesn't seem to convincingly engage with the slots where it should.

any suggestions shy of buying the $70 rubber thing from maxbmw to shore up the fuel pump?

also, i started the bike with the fuel cap off and i noticed some gas dripping down from the top right corner of the tank while its running, is this a normal overflow thing or might i have a loose fitting somewhere?

thanks for any sage advice.

Replacing my pump mount was expensive, but I figured after 25 years of service, I could live with that. They start disintegrating and the bits will damage you fuel pump which costs a lot more and will leave you on the side of the road. As for gas dripping off the top of the tank, sounds normal. The fuel system recirculates back to the tank at a pretty fast rate.

awesome thanks for the info. will get that part from beemer boneyard.

FIRST measure the diameter of your new pump. Make sure it is 43mm and not 37mm. Stock K75 pumps were 52mm for most of them and 43mm for the late ones. Alot of aftermarket pumps are only 37mm.

Euromotoelectrics sells a fuel resistant adapter sleeve that will adapt an early good condition 52mm vibration damper to the 37mm pump or I believe it should work in the 43mm white ring with no damper (the sleeve should act as the damper).
