    Sat on a 2007 K1200R Sport

And I liked it -- a LOT. Before going for a test ride and getting thoroughly sucked in is there anything I should watch for with the K1200R Sport? I have heard the transmission can be a bit flakey on earlier years but not sure which. Which years had the assist brakes? Open recalls (cam chain tensioner?) What about ESA and ASC?

I have about 100k miles on K75s and about 50k on a K11RS (which I often sorely miss...) I am looking for a newer bike with a comfortable riding position (aka like a K11RS with C Bars) that can both eat miles and be fun on long backroad sweepers - not so much into the very tight and very twisty anymore. Seems like the K1200R Sport is that bike.

As for the current ride, I am keeping the awesome K75RT and will use the time with a new bike to take it apart for a 20-year refresher

BMW went away from Servo brakes on K bikes late 2006. To be sure turn on the key, touch one of the brakes and listen for the whine.
I belive the cam chain tensioner was a service campaign, not a recall.
Don't forget to install a cam chain jump guard.

What would you like to know about ESA and ASC?

    Ted,

The K1200R Sport is A Wedge, not a Brick. How dare you Blaspheme on the Brick site!!!

Hang on while you promptly get booted over to the Wedgie area.
