"Who Wouldn't Want To Win This?"

When I opened the mail today I showed the flyer sent by the MOA to my wife and said roughly the same thing. That particular custom does nothing for me. I'm sure that others will like it. But then I saw a tweet from BMWMOA reading "Only 864 tickets sold for the custom F800R. Your odds of winning are the best of any MOA raffle so far. bit.ly/1k8BXu #MOA". Hmmm, maybe I'm not the only one who finds the bike all that appealing. :dunno

An R800R with fat green and grey stripes.

I'm with you Jack, that's one butt ugly bike. I don't like the belly pan and don't like the paint.

I saw it in Chicago at the show--and it looks better in the flesh (plastic/aluminum?) than the picture indicates. I bought a ticket, and frankly given my record of never winning anything but an air mattress at Shackamak, I'd appreciate it if no one else buys a ticket. Thank you for your cooperation...Mac

Pandora had several custom painted bikes at Sedalia and I did not care for any of those. Now the red and white GS they did this year was great:thumb:thumb

Well the paint job doesn't blow me away or style but I certainly wouldn't scoff at a free bike. Well however much the raffle tickets are plus insurance to put it on the road. I'd enjoy it, paint it or trade it. So yes I'd like to win it, I never win anything. Guess I should enter. That big drawing last summer I was hoping I didn't win the scooter, I would have been thrilled with anything else but no need to worry when your number isn't called. I'm going to enter.

That big drawing last summer I was hoping I didn't win the scooter,

Before Sedalia I bought a foundation ticket and there were several bikes at the National I was hoping I wouldn't win :) They also had a separate drawing for a F800R. I did not buy a ticket for that bike thinking I didn't want a chain. I found out later in the year if you did not like the bike you won, you could pick a different bike and pay the difference if it cost more.
I'm guessing you don't have that option on the custom painted bikes. Anyone know?

I would think MOA would do better selling tickets if the bike were not custom painted. Custom paint is a very personal thing and a custom job that looks great to one person can be ugly to the next.

Don't forget taxes :)
You have sales tax, and I'm guessing income tax on the value of the bike.

The dealer that supplies the raffle bike has in the past has worked with the winner to upgrade to an alternate deal if that was what the person wanted. This was done before the raffle bike was titled in the winners name.

Thanks Chuck.

I won the K1300S in the MOA raffle two years ago but instead, took delivery of a one year old RT. I was told that most of the winners- I think there were 10, maybe 12- opted for a different bike than they won.

Pandora Motorsports in Tennessee is where all the bikes were. I can't say enough good things about the MOA, (Ted Moyer) and Pandora's, they were fantastic in taking care of me. I flew down from. NJ and started back early the next morning. Because my flight arrived after closing time, they not only picked me up at the airport, but because I wanted to leave early the next morning, they opened up the dealership just to deliver the bike to me and wouldn't let me ride off until they were satisfied that I was comfortable on it, I was never rushed even though I was keeping them working at least three hours late. They also wouldn't believe me that I knew the route to my hotel and insisted on giving me an escort there with their bikes!

Yes,the taxes owed are substantial, but of course, it still comes out to be a smoking hot deal. And I also never won anything in my life, but a week after winning the motorcycle, I won $30 in my local clubs 50-50! Woo-Hoo!

Does the fine print allow for a cash value equivalent? If so, I'm in. If no cash equivalent, I'm not interested either.
