Under-seat 'bump' removal...GT

I've added Sargent seats to my GT. Their pillion seat pan sits low. There are three "bumps" under the pillion seat which have to do with the GTL seat latch (I think). Any reason I couldn't take a Dremel to those and cut them off? I could then seal off the holes in the fender, and have room enough to add a fused power block, or even put the Autocom there.

AND: the front Sargent seat has a compartment which is situated right over the battery. I could remove the cover for it (have no need for the compartment) and have room then to place a power block like an Eastern Beaver directly on the battery with velcro. Any reason NOT to do that?

TIA.
