I've got an R100/7 I hope to get back on the road later this year. I've got GPS in my car and like it. I don't have to worry about it being rained on or seeing it with the sun directly on it. Is there a GPS that's good on an older bike and won't be killed the first time it rains?

Garmin Nuvi 550 is a less expensive alternative to the Zumo. Waterproof, and you can download custom routes.
No MP3 or Bluetooth, but works well for me. Many sources available, GPS City had a good price when I got mine.

Cheap

I am too cheap to pay for a motorcycle GPS, I have a Garmin mounted by my handlebars with RAM mount. I keep a baggie and cover the GPS in rain, and it works just fine. I never had a issue, they are a few years old now and just as good a ever. I did get a hood to help with sun (Glarestomper under $20), and take that off when I use the baggie. I figured I could go through 4 or 5 GPS's instead of a motorcycle one, but I never replaced the first one yet. I have mounts on both my R100RT and Honda NT700V, and never ride without a GPS.

I have a Garmin Nuvii 550 that I bought and never used (they are discontinued production by Garmin now but you can still find them online). Still sits in the box. They are supposed to be waterproof and of course being Garmin reliable and durable.

Right now I use my older Garmin Map76CSX but I am thinking I may sell the Nuvii and get a Garmin Montana. After reading many reviews seems to be the best of all my worldly needs of being weather proof, different power sources and adaptable for auto, moto, hiking, and fishing.
