I just wanted to take a few moments and say thanks to some fantastic people who took the time to help a fellow rider/camper who was in trouble.

I just retired and this was my first real outing. I arrived at the rally late on thursday and set up my tent. It was to late to visit any vendors so I just went to the beer garden to enjoy the music. It was great. The next morning when I woke up I could not walk (I now know I had a slipped disc and a pinched nerve). By early morning (Friday) I realized that I was in trouble. I memtioned my condition to the guy camping next to me.

Things just got worse as the day progressed. I was in so much pain that I could not walk more that 10 or 12 yards. I gave in and made the dreaded call home for someone to drive the truck over and retrieve me. This would take at least 6 or 7 hours before they could reach Lima. So there I set, sun up to sun down. I could not get off my chair. Just feeling helpless and in pain. (as well as really PO'ed because I would not even get a chance to buy a rally t-shirt).

The good news - I am so thankful for the 3 guys camping next to me. When they realized the mess I was in, they pitched in and helped me make it through the day. Three strangers (I guess you really never meet a stranger on a BMW) who gave a significant part of their day to help another stranger.

When my daughter arrived that evening with my truck, these guys broke down and packed my camp and loaded my bike into the truck. All I could do was watch.

I am home now and feeling better but the doctor says it will be a slow recovery.

However, I CAN'T PUT INTO WORDS HOW MUCH IT MENT TO ME FOR THESE GUYS TO HAVE THE COMPASSION TO HELP ME MAKE IT UNTIL HELP ARRIVED.

A special thanks to you Steve. Lets stay in contact.

BMW owners, You ARE a special breed. Thank you for being there
