Go Pro Hero 3+ on a 2013 R1200RT....

The bike is gone now, but I mounted my video camera on a long Ram arm attached to the ball mount on the handlebar bolt below the tach. The camera would peek over the dash to the right of the GPS.

On my GSA, shooting through the screen lead to a lot of glare/reflection depending on the sun and the lean of the bike. I use a RAM mount with a tripod (screw) adapter and have it stick over to the side of the screen now. Plus on the GSA I have the engine guards so that is another location. I also use a stick on mount on the to of the top box. That would work on a RT. I can aim the camera front or back from there. Next I want to figure out how to get it up under the beak in front. I've seen some footage somebody else did, but I don't know how they mounted it. Kind of neat seeing the low, centered camera view.

32.. you shot thru the windshield ? How did that workout ?

Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Just like shooting through a car windshield. If the angle is just right there might be a bit of sun flare, but 99% of the time there's no issue. The windshield keeps bugs and weather off the lens as well.

And yes, we were goofing around...

So that video title is sort of tongue in cheek?

Does the Go Pro have an option for an external mike? Sometimes the best position for views is not the best position for sound.

Their is a thread somewhere of a GoPro mounted on a 1600's engine guard, guy had some very nice video riding the sierra passes

The GoPro 3 does accept an external mic with an adapter that plugs into the mini usb port. This is kind of a pain because you can't charge it while using the mic and you have to either drill a hole in the waterproof case or use a skeleton case to use it.

You may want to check out the new Drift Ghost S. It matches the current GoPro 3 for the most part and has an actual external mic jack. I have used the external mic with my Drift HD and it works quite well (and stays water "resistant" for the most part).

GoPro Mount solved....at least for me...

so, i have the Wunderlich GPS mount for my ZUMO 660....which, btw, is a great mount...:)

so i mounted the GoPro Hero3+ on the flat part in front of the GPS...it looks through the windshield and just clears when the windshield is in the lower position...

like so...
