Issue with 2011 R1200RT Electric Windshield

I hadn't ridden the bike for about a month. Finally took it out and checked the system and components.
I put the windshield down, but now it won't go up; it starts up, but only moves a few centimeters, then stops.
Tried it several times since then, but it doesn't want to move more than a few centimeters.
Any advice or suggestions?
Service is due in Nov; is this covered under the 3-yr warranty?
Thanks for your replies!

Check the upper brackets- just had one replaced under warranty
Will buy after market ones this winter and replace stock ones before they break again and I'm out of state!

Who sells these improved aftermarket brackets that you're talking about? Thanks in advance.
