Petcock gaskets

I am sealing the tank with POR-15 this weeked -- apparently it was due given the rust particles on the petcock strainers. Is there any reason to rebuild the petcocks, i.e., fit new internal gaskets as a preventive measure. I have no problems with them but since they are off it would be a good time to do it.

I've had my /5's petcocks off and on numerous times and have never encountered a problem. Over the forty years I've owned the bike I've probably only replace them a couple of times. Just make sure that the seating surfaces are clean.

Then again, for the price of a gasket.. . .. :whistle
