Road Construction Alert

I-70 eastbound at Richmond Indiana is a MESS. The fast lane was cored out at least 10 inches deep and the slow lane had not been worked on at all. I got stuck in a 15 mile back-up last thursday on the way to mid-Ohio. I don't think it will be finished any time soon.

Is westbound OK?, because I need to come home that way.

Well fooey. How bad was it to ride on? I'll be passing through that way really late on Thursday for the trip over to Lima.

Garth, I was in the van and the air conditioner works fine, so no problem. The superintendents were stopping the lane that was open to move trucks of blacktop into position near the paver. You would move ahead a mile or so and then sit for 20 minutes to a half hour. It took over 2 hours to traverse the construction zone. I would recommend that you exit the interstate and detour around the entire theatre. It might not be bad at night unless they are running 2 crews. I was stuck there from from a little after 2:00 in the afternoon until 4:30ish. On the return trip, the new lane had a few lifts of fresh blacktop and the traffic was on it while they were tearing out the other lane, so the road surface might be O.K. The construction ended at the state line.
