Miss at idle

96 R1100RT 70,000+ miles.
Bike starts and runs\ well on the road; no jerking or missing once up to road speed. Miss is apparent at idle when bike is cold and starting to idle. Also, I detect some valve tapping from right cylinder though not excessive. Where to start? Any assistance would be appreciated.

I sispect the "valve tapping" is actually the throttle body pully/shaft tapping due to a worn bushing and shaft. And I suspect the wear has allowed an air leak at the shaft. Thus lean mixture at idle and a miss.
 
Hi Paul, always good to hear from you. Please indulge the mechanically challenged psychologist here; what do I have to do to fix the condition?

The first step is to verify the diagnosis. Look at the pulley on the throttle body. Can you see it moving at idle. If so, then press tightly on the pulley to stop the movement. Does the noise go away. If no, I guessed wrong. If Yes, then here are the options.

Replace the throttle body.
Send the throttle body off to Bing Agency to have them rebuild it.
Order the bushing/ shaft kit from Bing and rebuild it yourself.
Have a dealer or other tech rebuild it for you.
