Limited Time SPOT Gen3 $50 rebate

Word of caution.

When you sign up for service, it is "Auto Renew" unless you change your preference on their web site. The last time I tried to sign up w/o auto renew they would do it. It was up to me to cancel the auto renew.

I passed.

Poor business model for their customers, good for them in the short term.

I use my debit card that I have the bank replace every six months with a new number so the auto renew doesn't work.

I just phone and cancel it if I don't want it.

Not really sure why this would even be an issue. However, to each his own.

Anyway, thanks for the heads-up for everyone so they are clear before going into it.

given that you have to be an active customer to get this rebate, they may already know about the auto-renewal piece.

Spot Messenger

I have the original Spot Messenger as well and appreciate the extra layer of safety knowing that my wife (or first responders) can check on my whereabouts should I not check in by phone at the end of a leg or return.

Good luck with Spot. They called because my card was "expired" and threatened collection action on the "auto renew". The guy was so nasty that I hung up on him. Called back and finally got a supervisor who agreed to make it all go away.
