I have been riding for 17,768 years. Harleys and metric. My first BMW now. I did all of the research.
I looked at 1200lt's..way to heavy..RT's how can you not like them from the 1100's on up with the paralever.
the 1600's are beautiful but I decided to stay with a low mileage K1100LT.

Welcome to the forum...sure is a nice bike, nice lines. Riding for 17,768 years! There must have been a lot of bikes over that time! :stick

I had a K1100LT and it was smooth and powerfull. My only complaint was it was very hot to ride in town or in the south. good luck and welcome.

Darn, all that time and you still don't qualify for a mileage award...:D

One good way to reduce excess heat on these is to add a power steering cooler on the fuel return line back to the tank.

I will look into that idea. First I have heard of it. I have heard of the Johnny blanket but I am not yet sure about pulling the tank to do it. I tried cutting insulation and trying it without removing the tank..No good. I think also that a fan switch might help. Have a good day
