QR Plate for duffel bag? R1200rt 2011

BMW Triumphant

Ed Kilner #176066
I love the quick release of my BMW tank bag. I'd like to buy or make a QR rig for a duffel bag on the rear rack. I have used straps and bungees before, but a QR arrangement would be great!

Anybody know where I could buy one? Any design available? Anybody have any design suggestions?

Ideally, a key lock but given the fabric bag, not really necessary.

Any help would be appreciated. And, yes, I have tried to search.

My Roadgear bag has the "bungees" made on it , they come out the bottom of the bag and have plastic hooks on the ends for which I use the bungee buddies-very well made item!

Thanks Nancy. The second link is very interesting, but the prices are more than I am prepared to spend.

I have bought a $3 plastic cutting board, a $6 cam lock, and found some metal plate in the garage. I have marked out the shapes of the holes in the rack and plan to make inserts. These will hold a flat plate in position. Then, I have to find a way to lock all down but be released by the lock. There are options and I am looking at those that do not put holes in the rack that BMW did not already make.

The duffel has a Masonite floor which I will bolt to the mounting plate from inside the bag.

Even if I can't make it work, it won't cost me much.

Any suggestions will be welcome. Anyone? I can't believe I'm the only person seeking this feature.

I wimped out!

Well, I was informed Givi makes a product called Blade Tech 47 litre top box. Did a web search for it in Ontario. Bought one for $289.22 ( including 13% HST tax) and it is now mounted on the bike.

I could not resist putting it on and off a couple of times, just for the Quick Release experience!
