k75s Windshield Repair

My OEM windshield is broken and I would like to try a repair. Has anyone had any experience with this?

The area that is broken is the lower left tail that wraps around the headlight. See image attached.

Good Luck! That area is very highly stressed. Any repair that looks good will probably not be strong enough at speed.

I did a repair on my 1990 R100GS PD that was broken in a similar place. It was complicated but it did last quite a long time after the initial break. I took the windshield off the bike and cut a groove down both sides of the break with a dremel tool. Then I drilled a series of small holes on each side of the break for the length of the break (about one hole every 3/16th of an inch). Clean all the debris out of the area and then stitch the two pieces together (I used brass wire from a hobby shop). Mix up a batch of epoxy and layer it over the groove and into the holes that the wire passes through. Do this on both sides and make sure that the epoxy goes through the holes and joins front to back. I went fairly heavy on the back side because it was not really visible and tried to make the front blend in as best I could. The old style PD windshield did have an advantage over the K75S in that it was painted black on the lower inside so it did camouflage the repair a bit. I probably put 40,000 miles on the repair including one trip to Inuvik and lots of rough back roads. I think that I had to renew the epoxy once when someone used the windshield to steady themselves as they tried to put on rain gear.
It's not perfect but it saved me $150 or so. YMMV
