I know that BMW has in the past made several K RT's, (K75RT, K100RT) does anybody know of plans for BMW to bring out a K 1200 RT?

While picking up my new helmet and getting a new tyre put on the front of the RT yesterday, I had a talk with the shop owners son and with a bit of a smile he made mention about BMW putting the K engine in the RT line up (maybe two years away?) and that folks, would be the PERFECT road machine!
I would hazard a guess that BMW did not tool up for a totally different engine intending to limit its application to a couple of niche motorcycles. My hunch is that we will see that engine, in various hp/torque configurations for some time to come. We might even see that layout with some number of cylinders other than four - a twin comes to mind. I'd love to see a triple but gave up hoping.
I expect to see several models with that transvers configuration over the next 2 or 3 years - ie model years '07-'09. But I'm only guessing. BMW isn't talking.

I have to get used to the "New" styling...whats up with the Rice Rocket styling!!!!
Especially the K1200 and the R1200ST, whats up with the Hyabusa look alike anyway....love the motors, redesigned rear end and longer wheelbase. But whats up with the headlights and brake fluid/clutch fluid cup holder thingys?
So much for BMW's stealth stylings?
I'll keep my R1100S a little bit longer!
(Me just venting) other forum menmbers may post there comments, your results may vary!![]()

from what i've seen of spy photos over on the Pelican Parts board, there have been sightings of both a K1200RT (powered by the new engine) and a vertical twin to augment or replace the F650, something of around 850cc's of displacement

thank you for your letter, i've been living in a cave with no windows and no access to the internet or any magazines for the last 12 months. i am glad to learn this new R bike has been released and look forward to having you inform me of the new K1200RT sometime in 2008, a year or so after its public introduction.
